What We're Learning:
Reading:
We will continue to work on multiple strategies to enhance our comprehension and understanding of stories. This week our strategy is known as the SWBS strategy. We will look at a classic favorite, Stellaluna to practice this strategy.

Try using this strategy at home while you're reading for homework this week. Encourage your readers to retell what they are reading to you! Get excited to hear what they're reading!
Writing/Grammar:
In grammar, we will look at comparing incomplete vs complete sentences. We will continue to use a variety of interesting words and grammar skills to help our writing become more descriptive as we review nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.
In spelling our sort patterns will be based on short and long i.
Math 2.1:
We will complete our first unit test this week! We are so ready to show what we've learned all about place value!
We will then begin our journey into addition strategies. This week we will review counting on and work on the making ten strategy. We know how important 10 is in our number system, so making ten can be a very important skill to understand!

Math 2.2:
We are getting ready for our first unit test! We are reviewing all of our skills from unit 4 including:
adding and subtracting with and without regrouping
inverse opperation
CUBES and word problems
money
the commutative property
We can't wait to see all you have to show us you've learned!
Math 3.1:
This week we will also complete our first unit test on the relationship between multiplication and division. I can't for you to see all we have learned!
Our next unit will cover a deepening of place value. We will look at different forms of numbers this week and how they can help us solve multidigit, multiregrouping problems in addition and subtraction.
Science!
What an exciting unit we are embarking on! We are ready to dive into our studies on Matter!! This week we will look to classify a solid, liquid, and gas and go under a microscope to enhance our thinking looking at and discussing the molecules and how they play a role in our classifications.
