What We're Learning:

Reading:
This week we will be learning about the author Mem Fox and reading some of her books.
Week Theme: Books can help us make connections to special moments in our lives and teach us about friendship.
Literacy Skill Focus Standards:
RL 2.2 Recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson or moral.
RL 2.4 Describe how words and phrases supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song.
Essential Questions:
What lessons can you learn from the text?
How can you connect the big ideas from the texts to your life?
English Language Arts :
Mentor Sentence:
This week we will focusing on our reading book Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge. We will focus on the following sentence: He called on Mr. Drysdale who had a voice like a giant. Students will locate the verbs in the sentence, edit the sentence and create their own sentences.
Phonics: This week we will be studying the ou and ow sound.

Math:
Math 2.1
Students will be reviewing for their math unit tests. Some topics that will be covered on their tests are the following: adding 4 2-digit numbers, addition/subtraction with regrouping, counting money, and bar graphs.
Math 2.2
We will start our unit on multiplication.
Math 3.1
Students will be reviewing for their unit test.
Social Studies:
We will continue to research for our Living Museum Project.
