What We're Learning:
Reading:
This week we will conclude our first look at nonfiction texts. We will be searching through for the main idea of our books as well as within passages and even pages. We will look at headings and subheadings to help us easily identify the main idea and retell facts we've learned.

Writing/Grammar:
In grammar, we will look at contractions. We will look at how they can help us broaden our use of words and learn some conventions by learning about apostrophes. We use contractions in all of our daily language, so this will help us become more professional writers!
In writing we will shift our focus to an information immersion. We will learn about what makes informational writing different from narratives as well as how to make the best informational piece possible!
Spelling will focus on reviewing short vs. long sounds.
Math 2.1:
We will continue to develop our understanding of addition this week with a deeper look by applying it to real world problems. We will investigate as detectives whether or not we NEED to regroup and how this is determined. We will solve complex clues this week to practice our skills and review using our base ten blocks and base ten block drawings to help us developmentally understand what this whole regrouping thing is really all about!
Math 2.2:
This week we will be completing our study guide and reviewing for our unit test on Thursday. Our review will include identifying shapes and their attributes for two and three dimensional shapes, also partitioning shapes into equal pieces.
Math 3.1:
We will assess our knowledge this week on numbers within 1,000. We will continue to practice tricky subtraction across zeros. We will also continue to practice our fluency of the four operations as we prepare for multi-step challenging word problems in a variety of settings.
Social Studies
We are learning all about our lovely home state of Georgia this week! We will look to identify Georgia on a map and begin learning about the different regions and what truly makes Georgia so special. This week we are focusing on each of the 5 main regions in Georgia! We learned we live in the Piedmont region and it is the most populated! What will make it different from the others??
