What We're Learning:
Reading
We are connecting our learning to social studies as we study historical texts this week. See if you can bring this home by reading some historical texts. These can be informational or fictional such as the Magic Treehouse Series!
Writing/Grammar
We will be looking at homophones this week
We will also be reviewing sentence structure as we prepare for our paragraph writing and adding more detail.
Math 2.1
We are continuing to work with addition this week as we look at adding up to four 2-digit problems. We can look at this as two sets of problems that we add together at the end! We will also look at working with 3 digit addition with and without regrouping by recapping the traditional method, base ten block method, picture drawing method, expanded form, and number line adding.
Math 2.2
Arrays, arrays, arrays! We will continue our exploration of arrays by looking at rows and columns some more. We will use these to create repeated addition sentences that we will use to create multiplication sentences! Please start practicing your multiplication facts at home as well as repeated addition skip counting.
Math 3.1
We are taking a deeper look at fractions this week! We will look at them as part of a set as well as part of a shape. We will look at adding and subtracting fractions with common denominators before looking at what we need to do if they are not common....
Science/SS
We are loving the powerful discussions we've been having with our civil rights discussions. We've looked in depth at the work and injustice Martin Luther King Jr. faced and worked hard to eradicate. We've spoken about how we still have to fight for these rights and freedoms even today and how important our words and actions are. This week we are continuing to deepen our understanding of these tricky subjects by looking at Jackie Robinson's impact on the Civil Rights movement, Jimmy Carter's impact on the Human Rights Movement, and we will even look into the Women's Rights Movement as we explore equality for all.
