What We're Learning:

Reading

We are so excited to apply what we've been learning about biographies to our own studies on our famous figures for living museum! We will learn how to take all of the information we've learned and sequence it, most notably like our timelines!

Check out the links below for some resources on famous figures!

Writing/Grammar

We will be looking at irregular plural nouns this week!

In writing we will focus on sequencing our events from our research for our living museum. We will look at how to choose the most interesting information from our person and how we can transform this into a story rather than a list of facts.

Math 2.1

We are continuing our addition and subtraction practice with application based lessons this week! We will be looking into using our skills to help investigate problems with money. We will think of this in connection with class run businesses and visits to class run stores. We will look at subtracting across zeros, which can be quite tricky, but something we know these second graders are ready to conquer!

Math 2.2

It's all about division this week! We are introducing division by looking at equal groups. We will start with our quotient and use lots of modeling and pictures to help us determine our answer.

Math 3.1

We are taking a deeper look at fractions this week as we integrate it with measurement! We will use our understanding to help us measure even more accurately. We will then apply this understanding of reading our rulers to the nearest quarter inch to then reading a number line with fractions.

Science/SS

We are so very excited to begin our studies for our biography presentation with our living museum! We will be fully immersed this week in our research! Ask your historian what they've learned on their famous people and you will be amazed at the excitement and knowledge already being learned! :)
