What We're Learning:

Reading

We are finalizing our studies on historical and biography readings this week by looking at some history of holidays taking place! We will look into the history of Valentines, Mardi Gras, and even into the Olympics with short articles with lots of facts. How can we try to retain this information? What questions can we ask ourselves to help us remember the sequence? What connections can we make?

Writing/Grammar

We are finalizing our look at irregular nouns by reviewing all of our rules!

Math 2.1

We are excited to apply some of our basic addition and subtraction principles to something a little trickier: balancing equations. We will start out by talking about what = really means.. simply the same! We always think this means the answer, but sometimes our problems can appear out of order. We will make this very hands on this week with a look at a balance scale to help us check out if we solved for the proper variable.

Math 2.2

We are continuing to strengthen our multiplication fluency by looking for patterns in skip counting to help us. We will look at different multiplication properties such as the distributive property to help us with some of our trickier facts (looking at you 6, 7, and 8s!) We will also look at multiplying by 10s.

Math 3.1

We are heading into geometry with a look at polygons and quadrilaterals! We are having a fun time discussing what qualities each posses and realize that some of our definitions overlap! For example.... a square is technically a rectangle! But a rectangle isn't always a square? See if you can explain it!

Science/SS

LIVING MUSEUM IS THIS THURSDAY FROM 1:00-1:45

We hope to see you here so we can show you all of our incredible research skills! :) Be sure to practice those speeches and poses at home!!
