Progress Skills Checklists Sent Home

March 7 Movie Night

March 8 No School

March 9 Digital Learning Day

Things to Do:

-Please continue to check your child's folder and sign nightly

-Continue to read with your child! Many of our kiddos share that they still read at home (awesome!) but are reading in their heads. Reading out loud is an important skill and one where we can check for comprehension and correct decoding skills. While you prepare dinner have them read a chapter to you! Discuss it and practice reading in silly character voices. Make special reading memories that will last a lifetime by making it a family event! :)

What We're Learning:

Reading

This is one of our favorite units as we look at comparing and contrasting fractured fairy tales to the originals! See if you've heard of any of these titles and can think how they might be different than the original:

Writing/Grammar

We will continue to work on persuading our audiences with persuasive writings. We are continuing to work through the writing process by conferencing and editing with suggestions.

We will also be looking at expanding our sentences to create more advanced writing:

Math 2.1

Let's get ready to measure!! What a fun unit we have in store! This week we will explore measuring in inches and centimeters learning about the two different systems: metric and customary. We will practice estimation and determine which we need more of cm or in?

Math 2.2

We are ready to test on this multiplication and division unit. We will spend this week reviewing and getting ready to test. Remember to keep practicing your facts to make this test a piece of cake!

Math 3.1

Fractions, fractions, fractions! We will dive in deeper in this upcoming unit with all sorts of fraction applications. This week we are continuing to look at fraction measurement. We will look at measuring to the nearest quarter of an inch to be as accurate as possible.

Science/SS

ASTRONOMY!

We are so excited to get back to our exploration with a look at our sun and the shadows in creates. What are shadows? How can we use them to help us recognize changes such as those created on the moon?
