What We're Learning:
Reading
This week we will study a variety of books featuring different point of view. We will not be as focused on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person, but more so on how the perspective of our story changes based on who the story is being told from.
For example, we all know the story of the three little pigs... That Big Bad Wolf causes all sorts of problems for them! But have you heard of it from the wolf's perspective? Why he just had a cold!

Try this out with your stories you read together this week! What might the story be like if another character was in charge of the story?
Writing/Grammar
We will continue to work on persuading our audiences with persuasive writings. We will be working to conclude our opinion pieces and publish our favorite argument!
We will work on possessive nouns this week in our grammar skill.
Math 2.1
We are excited to work through some measurement application through some scenario based problems involving dinosaurs this week! We will look at just how big they were and compare them to our heights. We will look at various dinos as well as various dino parts. Did you know that a T-rex had teeth as long as 9 inches! We will map these out around our room and compare them to everyday objects! We will also plot our data using line plots.
Math 2.2
We are working on rounding this week!
Remember...
5 through 9, climb the vine
0 through 4, head to the floor
Math 3.1
We will continue exploring our measuring activities with the dinosaurs, but becoming more accurate and precise with our measurements. We will also continue to expand our knowledge of fractions by working with equivalent fractions. We are starting out by finding the common factors. Remember to practice your facts to help with this!
Science/SS
We are deepening our discussions with a look at causes of change to the Earth. We will take a look at natural causes of change such as wild fires, droughts, and floods as well as some man made causes.. some necessary and some we can work together to fix!
Head to launchpad.fcs.org and log it to watch brainpop jr videos on slow and fast land changes as well as ones to help learn about conservation. What can you do to help our planet??
