What We're Learning:
Reading/Writing/Grammar
This week we are really combining our reading and writing together as we are working to explore our understanding of the vast world of poetry. We are looking for rhythm, rhyme, alliteration, and patterns within poetry. What are some of your favorite types of poems? Who is your favorite poet??? Spend some time looking these up online together! There are so many great ones for kids and adults alike! :)
Math
All of our math groups this week are reviewing unit skills to prepare for our final unit tests! We are also working super hard to practice our fact fluency in all domains as we prepare for our ice cream challenge where the students will earn a scoop for each fact mastered. Once they've gotten all 10 they must try for their toppings with a mixed review! Students should be fluent in approximately 25-30 facts per minute. We will celebrate with an ice cream party! :)
Science/SS
It's all about those mealworms this week as we explore their likes and dislikes as well as explore the stages of their life cycle. At the conclusion of this week, students will be able to bring their mealworms home! Don't worry! All they need is a little bit of fresh oatmeal for bedding and an apple or potato slice every few days. If you're not up for it, release them out in the wild! They are a natural part of the food chain, so maybe put them a little farther away from your backyard...
