What We're Learning:

Reading/Writing/Grammar

This week we are continuing our reading and writing combo as we are working to explore our understanding of the vast world of poetry. We can't wait to share with you at the poetry cafe!

We will also begin BAS testing which will assess students one on one on their fluency, rate, and comprehension of leveled texts. We will communicate this level with you at the end of the school year.

Math

We are also working super hard to practice our fact fluency in all domains as we prepare for our ice cream challenge where the students will earn a scoop for each fact mastered. Once they've gotten all 10 they must try for their toppings with a mixed review! Students should be fluent in approximately 25-30 facts per minute. We will celebrate with an ice cream party NEXT WEEK! So keep preparing!

Science/SS

We are super excited to explore the world of botany this week! We will combine poetry by studying Emily Dickinson's samples and create a herbarium just as she did! We will collect and flatten various plant species we find. We will also dissect plants! Please reach out to your child's teacher if you are able to donate some for the classroom.
