What We're Learning:
Reading:

As readers this week we are looking starting to focus our attention on non-fiction text. This week our readers will compare information learned to information that is known. The will practice this strategy by collecting facts as they read nonfiction texts. .
ELA:
Mentor Sentences: We will study adjectives. We will deepen our understanding using our mentor text From Seed To Plant
Phonics: Final blends
Writing: We will work to create our own How to informational writing. How to plant a seed.
Math 2.1:
We will complete our first unit test this week! First, we will be reviewing with an in class study guide. The in class study guide will be sent home by Tuesday at the latest to review and compare with the homework study guide. We are so ready to show what we've learned all about place value!
Math 2.2:
We are continuing to strengthen our skills in subtracting fluently with numbers through 1,000. We will be looking at a variety of strategies including number bonds (or part/part/wholes), base ten blocks, totals below, and the traditional algorithm. Which method works best for you?
Math 3.1:
This week we are wrapping up our studies in unit 1 with a deeper understanding of rounding and estimating. Our study guide will be sent home next week.
Science:
Calling all botanists! this week we will deepen our understanding of plants. We will discuss the parts of the plants, and the plant life cycle.
