What We're Learning:

Reading:

As readers this week were continuing our journey into non- fiction This week our readers will describe the connection between scientific ideas of nonfiction text. They will practice this strategy by approaching non-fiction text expecting to learn something new. Students will compare prior knowledge with new information.

ELA:

Mentor Sentences: We will study adjectives. We will deepen our understanding using our mentor text

Phonics: double endings and -ck endings

ex: sniff, cliff, buzz, back, stack

Writing: We will work to create our own How to informational writing. How to plant a seed.

Math 2.1:

We will begin our journey into addition strategies. This week we will review counting on and work on the making ten strategy. We know how important 10 is in our number system, so making ten can be a very important skill to understand!

Math 2.2:

We're still working to strengthen our skills as subtraction masters. We are focusing on subtracting across multiple zeros and using a variety of strategies. We will work to connect subtraction to real world equations by reviewing money based problems.

Math 3.1:

This week we will also complete our first unit test on the relationship between multiplication and division. I can't for you to see all we have learned!

Our next unit will cover a deepening of place value. We will look at different forms of numbers this week and how they can help us solve multi digit, multi-regrouping problems in addition and subtraction.

Science:

This week we will continue our study of plants. We shall preform a variety of experiments and observations using our own plants growing in the classroom.
