What We're Learning:

Reading:

As readers this week we are continuing to explore and learn from non- fiction texts. This week our readers will practice using text features to locate important facts and information as well using information from the text to caption pictures.

ELA:

Mentor Sentences: We will study possessive nouns and recap our proper nouns. We will deepen our understanding using our mentor text Scaredy Squirrel.

Phonics: digraphs -two letters blend to make a new sound such as ch, th, sh

ex: shell, chin, phone, whale

Writing: We will work to create our own escape plan with vivid details so our reader's can follow exactly and escape with ease!

Math 2.1:

We will continue our journey into addition strategies. This week we will work on increasing to two digit numbers. We will review strategies including using a 100's chart, number line, number bonds (to separate our tens and our ones clearly), and expanded form adding. We take it day by day to help our learners understand numbers and how we can break them apart to make problems easier to solve before we introduce the traditional algorithm. Ask your learner to teach you a new strategy and check in on Seesaw to see what they're up to!

Math 2.2:

This week it's all about the money! We are wrapping up the unit with some real world application as we add dollars and cents and make change as needed. We will be quizzed on our coin identification as well as adding up to four cent amounts.

Math 3.1:

This week we will are working to build up our multiplication practice by searching for equal groups and arrays. We will work with fact families to realize that multiplication and division are related. We will practice our fluency to realize repeated addition and subtraction are useful, but not the quickest and will look for ways to help us memorize our facts.

Social Studies:

This week we will focus on landforms! We will identify various types of landforms and water features and then focus our studies on those we can find right here in Georgia! We've got quite a bit to research!
