ELA:

Mentor Sentence: This week, we will be working on reviewing plural nouns and how to form them. We will be reading the popular book The Days the Crayons Quit.

Phonics: This week, we will be working on ai/ay spelling patterns.

Math:

2.1

We will continue work on subtration and learn about how to regroup. We know that addition and subtraction are related, so we will look at how we can apply those same strategies we've learned in addition to help us solve subtraction!

Just like in addition, we will expose our learners to all of these different strategies in hopes they find one that makes sense for their learning style. We will continue to develop our thinking of these numbers and what regrouping means before trying the often abstract traditional method. That is the goal as it is often most efficient for us, however, we want to focus on building strong, number sense in our young mathematicians!

2.2

We are learning all about 3-D shapes this week as we work on exploring geometry. We will be sorting and classifying 3-D shapes and constructing 3-D shapes.

Math 3.1

We will be reviewing multiplication and division with word problems as we apply the properties of multiplication. We will begin review for our unit test next week.

Social Studies

We will start our learning about the Creek and Cherokee Indians. Students will be conducting independent research this week to gain more information on the tribe that they have chosen.
