What We're Learning

Reading:

Week Theme: Understanding the structure of a text can help us recount the story and determine the moral.

Literacy Skills Focus Standards:

RL 2.2-Recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson, or moral.

RL2.5- Describe the overall structure of a story, including describing how the beginning introduces the story and the ending concludes the action.

Essential Question:

How do good readers determine the "moral of the story" when reading fairy tales?

How can the structure of the story help readers retell the story?

Comprehension Skill: Determine importance, Retell

Comprehension Strategy: "Uh...Oh....Phew"

ELA:

Mentor Sentence: This week, we will work on nouns and adjectives.

Phonics: This week, we will be working on o,oa, oe. and ow pattern.

Math:

2.1

We will be working with money. We will start off with coin identification and then start adding coins together.

We will be testing this week.

3.1

We will be testing this week. At the end of the week, we will continue to work on area and perimeter.

Science

We will be studying changes to our environment. We will be discussing how droughts, floods and erosion can change our environment.
