Main text: A picture Book of Jackie Robinson by David Adler

Literacy Skill Focus Standard:

R.I2.2- Identify the main topic of a multi-paragraph text.

Essential Question:

How does identifying the main topic of a text help readers to better understand it?

Comprehension Skill:

Synthesizing, determining importance

English Language Arts

Mentor Sentence: This week, using our mentor sentence book the Substitute Groundhog, we will be focusing on past tense irregular verbs. Also don't forget to check out if Punxsutawney Phil on Saturday morning to see if we will have an early spring.

Phonics: Our phonics pattern for the week includes ir, er and ur words. For example squirt, baker, and dirt.

Math

Math 2.1

This week will begin our journey into three digit subtraction with and without regrouping. We working with a variety of strategies to help each our learners feel successful. Our subtraction strategies mirror our addition strategies; including place value blocks, standard algorithm, and number lines.

Math 2.2

This week will be reviewing for our unit 6 exam. We shall review what repeated addition, equal groups, arrays and graphing. We will focus on story problems and different types of graphs including bar graphs and line graphs.

Math 3.1

This week we will continue to explore polygons and their attributes.

Science/SS
