What We're Learning:

Reading:

This week we will be learning about the author Mem Fox and reading some of her books.

Week Theme: Books can help us make connections to special moments in our lives and teach us about friendship.

Literacy Skill Focus Standards:

RL 2.2 Recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson or moral.

RL 2.4 Describe how words and phrases supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song.

Essential Questions:

What lessons can you learn from the text?

How can you connect the big ideas from the texts to your life?

Language Arts

We will be reading Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and discussing possessive pronouns.

Phonics

We will be learning about silent consonants words.

Math 2.1

We will work on telling time to the nearest 5 minutes. We will be working to add AM and PM which can often be quite tricky! Please take any opportunity to practice this at home and when out and about!

Math 2.2

We will be reviewing sums and learning how to estimate with rounding.

Math3.1

This week we will finish our tests. We will also be starting unit 6. We will be measuring to the nearest 1/4 inch.

Science

We will be starting our unit of Force and Motion.
