What We're Learning:

Reading:

As readers this week we are looking at what we can learn from our characters. Our theme this week will be "Persistence can make our dreams come true." As good readers, we will think about the moral and central message of our stories. Good readers can also understand that characters can teach us lessons.

ELA:

Mentor Sentences:

Phonics: Long O/U

Writing: We will work to create our own memoirs in the diary setting of our read aloud.

Math 2.1:

We are ready to explore word problems this week! We will learn about the CUBES strategy and how to identify key words. Which words mean add? Which words mean subtract? We will work on adding in units of 10 for example, I have 45 pencils. Sam has 20 more. How many pencils does Sam have? We will also look at problems that allow us to apply our skip counting knowledge. For example, Jordan buys 12 packs of candy. If each pack has 10 pieces inside, how many pieces of candy did he get?)

Math 2.2

This week we are learning a variety of strategies to to solve 3 digit addition problems with regrouping. We will work with regrouping as challenge is needed.

Math 3.1 We are working on rounding our numbers in the tens and hundreds. We will use this to help estimate our answers as we continue to practice our addition and subtraction.

Social Studies

We will be wrapping up our economics units with some fun activities! stay tuned to Seesaw to check out the activities.
