Phonics: This week, we will be working on plural noun spelling patterns.
Math:
2.1
We will work on subtraction and start learning about how to regroup. We know that addition and subtraction are related, so we will look at how we can apply those same strategies we've learned in addition to help us solve subtraction!
Just like in addition, we will expose our learners to all of these different strategies in hopes they find one that makes sense for their learning style. We will continue to develop our thinking of these numbers and what regrouping means before trying the often abstract traditional method. That is the goal as it is often most efficient for us, however, we want to focus on building strong, number sense in our young mathematicians!
2.2
We will start a new unit this week. We will be learning how to create different arrays. Students will learn how to illustrate an array and identify the repeated addition problem it represents. Students will be able to apply their understanding of arrays to form equal groups to to further their understanding of multiplication concepts.
3.1
Students will be reviewing the materials taught in unit 2 and will be preparing for the unit test.
Social Studies
We will start our unit on the Georgia Regions. Students will learn the following about each region: land forms, wildlife, climate, plants/crops, and attractions.
