What We are Learning

Reading:
Week Theme: Our opinions of characters can change depending on who is telling the story.
Literacy Skills Focus Standards:
RL 2.3-Describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges
RL2.6- Acknowledge differences in the points of view of characters, including by speaking in a different voice for each character when reading dialogue aloud.
Essential Questions:
How can characters from two versions of the same be so different?
How can who is telling the story completely change the story?
Comprehension Skill: Support ideas with evidence
Comprehension Strategy: Back up ideas about characters with evidence

ELA:
Mentor Sentence: This week, we will be working on reviewing possessive nouns. We will be reading Skippyjon Jones to learn about possessive nouns.
Phonics: This week, we will be working on ai/ay
spelling patterns.
Math:
2.1
We will be working on adding 3 2-digit numbers. We will also be working on solving word problems. We will be using the CUBES strategy to solve these problems.
2.2
We will continue working on arrays and repeated addition. Students will be working on several different activities to demonstrate their understanding of multiplication.
3.1
Students will be concluding unit 2. We will be pretesting unit 3 which will be area and perimeter.

Social Studies:
We will continue researching and learning about the regions of Georgia.
